Roses in the Snow

ROSES IN THE SNOW

By

Mary K. Anson

When the hours are long and gray
with weather too cold to bear
 children’s antics light the day
and their laughter fills the air

With little faces glowing red
like winter roses in the snow
they trudge along, with feet of lead
up endless hills, their sleds in tow

As the top comes into view
excitement builds along with fear
one flies down and then there’s two
as the rest gives out a cheer

The joyful sounds, all too rare
ring through the long afternoon
but then a moment of despair
the fun has ended all too soon

out of sight/ no more crazy curser

For years I have had a problem with my laptop keyboard. As I would type, gobbledy goop would show up on the screen, leading me to believe I had early onset dementia. But if you ask the right questions, problems can  be solved...In my case, the resolution was as simple as moving the curser to the bottom of the screen when I wanted to type, because of a glitch on laptops that causes the mousepad interfere with typing...If I had only thought to Google the problem before, rather than wasting a total of hours bemoaning my bad keyboard, I would have written many more blog posts...

I am a little late with the cutting file for this week, but I promise it will be worth it!

hey...over here please!

I really dislike trying to buy something when the sales person has my cc in hand and takes a phone call or talks to another salesperson and totally ignores me. I am the one contributing to their income, right there and then

MAKING IT EASY

Good Morning! On today's list is figuring out how to do a fill out form on the blog so you can download my free files and projects easily. The internet boggles me sometimes, so be patient. I'm really stubborn and will figure it out.

I gave Miss Penny  a bath this morning and she pretty much showered me. She smells really good now but the stress gave her the hiccups ;O)

knowing your tools

My airbrush exploded today, catapulting black paint clear across the room and splattering the blue wall with a not so pretty Warshak design...needless to say, I learned pretty quick how to take it apart ad clean it properly.

New toys

A few weeks ago, I bought a serger...I love it because I can't cut a straight line with shears and this machine seams and trims in one step :o) and if that weren't fun enough, I also invested in an air compressor for my air brush...paying for cans of air is just wrong /

Tools save you time and money in the long run so they are a very good investment!

For Madge

I hope it's a lifetime

Reason, Season, or Lifetime
People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
When you figure out which one it is,
you will know what to do for each person.

When someone is in your life for a REASON,
it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.
They have come to assist you through a difficulty;
to provide you with guidance and support;
to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually.
They may seem like a godsend, and they are.
They are there for the reason you need them to be.
Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time,
this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.
Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.
What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled; their work is done.
The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.
Some people come into your life for a SEASON,
because your turn has come to share, grow or learn.
They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.
They may teach you something you have never done.
They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.
Believe it. It is real. But only for a season.
LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons;
things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.
Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person,
and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.
It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

In and Out

Two more weeks of busy. A revolving door of visitors and family. All the beds have been slept in more this past 2 months than in the last 8 years.

My review/THE HELP

 The Help
The best book I've read in ages. I will read it again. Every character stepped off the pages. i would recognize each location if they were real. Amazing first novel for Kathryn Stockett...can not wait for the next. Oh wait...yes I can if it is as good as this!

Go toward the light

Don't know why this moth decided to fly into my ear at 2 in the morning but it took me almost 12 hours to get him out. I am very happy to see he didn't leave any parts in there.

Sweets for the sweet

so I'm not a big sweet eater , but when I want chocolate, it becomes an obsession. Here  is the easiest fudge recipe I ever found and it takes only 2 ingredients and a microwave! You can embellish the product if you are a crafter like me, or leave it as is.

1 bag of semi sweet chocolate chips (12 ounces)

1 can  of ready made frosting

Melt the chips in microwave for 90 seconds  (I stirred half way though)

Add the can of frosting (any flavor will do)
Microwave for another 90 seconds
Stir well (I added a teaspoon of vanilla) and pour into a buttered pan (8" is good)

Refrigerate until set (overnight will make a nice firm fudge, but 30-45 minutes will allow it to be cut)
Take one piece and freeze the rest
Don't tell your friends

Love
Mari

leftover paint & stencil

Used my pazzles to cut a stencil and painted my picnic table with leftover floor paint...The table doubles as my craft table so it was a pretty sorry looking thing before (and probably will be again) but now I can use it for the Barbeque party :O)
