So you think 40 years makes a difference?

I'm in the process of decluttering my mother's house so she can put it on the market and of course I am finding all sorts of things mother's put away and forget about...Art, poems, pictures and such...tossed in a drawer to be discovered decades later.

"And I took the road less traveled and that has made all the difference"

Gilbert's Resort

On a quest to escape boredoom, we headed for Key Largo and barely made it. A tiny sign to the right of the new bridge beckoned us to Gilbert's Resort and Marina. We had heard the restaurant was good so we were disappointed to see it opened at 5pm. The Tiki bar was open for lunch so we braved the boardwalk and cool weather and enjoyed a lovely meal by the water...Definitely worth the drive from Miami...We'll be back again.

Prices: Reasonable
Location: Lovely
Food: Good
Sevice: Freindly and informative

One more week before we head south again...I hate to admit that the cold gets to me a little and it will be nice to move around without pain. This year has had more downs than ups in personal and financial measures so it will be good to see in the new year with a new administration and perhaps the pension good for another 2 years...What we lost in money we gained in equity so we are at least better off than a lot and the economy has driven down gas prices so our trip will cost a third of what we feared. It will be interesting to see who gets to Miami...We will miss Romeo and Lorraineso much...

Caught between 2 generations

I talked to my daughter and my mother today....

What a difference in perspective

No more special days...

It's our anniversary...34 years.
The years passed by so slowly...in a flash
A step daughter, 2 children, Addiction, Alienation, Reunions, Retirement, Cancer, Past, Future, Present
Weddings, Death, Birth,War, Peace, Happiness, Grief...
It is a moment of our greatest content...a lovely home (almost), happy children (almost), enough money (not quite), good health (who knows?)

Valentines in the Everglades

Well, it's Valentines day in exile. Pot lock tonight at the campground was all over by 6:30...need to get the old folks in bed by 8
No problem receiving flowers in the sunshine state. Vendors were selling flowers on every street corner.
The news from home was snowy and cold which is why we are here...
